Margarine and Trans Fats
Margarine and foods containing partially hydrogenated oils are packed with trans fats that directly inflame your blood vessels and accelerate atherosclerosis — the hardening of arteries. After 40, your cardiovascular system is already under more strain, and trans fats dramatically increase LDL (bad) cholesterol while lowering HDL (good) cholesterol. Even small amounts accumulate over time and increase heart attack risk.
